Celebrating the Fourth of July at home can be a hassle. It’s easy to end up spending hundreds of dollars on fireworks, only for your display to look lackluster compared to the big-shot ones. If you want to ensure an inspiring holiday this year, you can attend a public event with your family and fellow neighbors. That way, you can focus on having a great time and enjoying the fireworks. Below, you can explore some of the best fireworks shows in and around McKinney, Texas, this year.

Red, White, and BOOM! is a long-time favorite Fourth of July event in McKinney. Residents gather near the McKinney Memorial Public Library in the morning to start the day off with a parade, which is a festive procession that runs along Tennessee Street and Kentucky Street. Note that there are several lots offering free public parking, so you don’t have to worry about finding a spot before you jump into the festivities.
After the parade is over, you can join your McKinney neighbors in the Yankee Doodle Block Party. The city closes off some streets for attendees to gather, socialize, and celebrate America’s freedom. You can also enjoy various dining and shopping options in the downtown area.
As the sun begins to set and the evening rolls in, attendees can relocate to the McKinney Soccer Complex at Craig Ranch. Here, you’ll find kids’ activities, food vendors, live music, and other activities to keep you and your family busy until the fireworks show begins.
Anna Fireworks Fourth of July Celebration
The Anna Fireworks Fourth of July Celebration is a community gathering and fireworks show that takes place at Anna High School on Rosamond Parkway. Several organizations come together every year to host this show, including the Anna CDC, the Anna EDC, and the Greater Anna Chamber of Commerce, so you know it’ll be an exciting event for everyone. The parking lot for the event opens at 8 p.m. on July 4, so you can come early to find a spot to park your new Hyundai vehicle from Huffines Hyundai McKinney.
While you wait for the show to start, you can socialize with other attendees and enjoy the snacks or refreshments brought with you. The fireworks usually begin around 9:15 p.m and wraps up by 10 p.m., meaning you and your family can head home at a decent hour for a good night’s rest.
City of Princeton July Spectacular
The City of Princeton July Spectacular is just a short drive from McKinney, and it’s more than worth the trip. Princeton has hosted this event for the past 10 years, and it has gotten bigger and better each time. The July Spectacular always occurs on July 3 no matter which day of the week the date lands on, so you can enjoy a nice celebration prior to the actual holiday.
The fun begins at 2 p.m. at J.M. Caldwell Sr. Community Park on West College Street. The event is likely to draw over 10,000 people, so you know it’ll be a fun time with your fellow northern Texas residents. There will be plenty of entertainment to hold your interest until the fireworks show begins. In the past, acts like the Stragglers, Reckless Kelly, and Lee Ann Womack have taken the stage, and we expect a similarly exciting lineup for 2022. There will also be plenty of arts and crafts activities and food vendors to occupy you.
Princeton’s July Spectacular also makes sure the little ones have plenty to do. There will be a swing ride, a rock-climbing wall, a miniature train, and bounce houses that kids and teens can both use. If you feel like doing some good for the community, Carter Blood Care will be there to accept blood donations, and the organization usually has plenty of merchandise to give away to donors.
As much fun as the daytime festivities are, you’ll want to stick around for the fireworks show. It’ll begin after the sun goes down so that you can get the best view of all the colors. The show is usually over by 10 p.m. so you can head home, get a good night’s rest, and prepare yourself for any event on the Fourth of July.
Splash and Blast at Old Celina Park
If you’re looking for a way to beat the heat this Fourth of July holiday, you can head to Old Celina Park to participate in its annual Splash and Blast event on July 2. This event is free for everyone to enter, and the main attraction is the water slides. They have water slides of various heights and types, so everyone from young toddlers to older teens can enjoy them. Parents can sit back and socialize with their neighbors from McKinney and surrounding cities, as the event draws thousands of people each year.
The fun kicks off at 5 p.m. and goes until 10 p.m. While the sun is out, you can take your kids to explore the various fun water slides. There’s also a center stage area where you can watch local and regional artists perform music from various genres. There are also multiple vendors set up throughout the park that sell both food and flea market items.
The fireworks show usually begins around 9:15 or 9:30 p.m., and it offers a great conclusion to the event. Old Celina Park really goes out every year, so you can expect a steady arrangement of fireworks that’ll help you and your family create a memorable holiday.
