They also have several other food items, including gourmet dogs, signature sandwiches, salads, quesadillas, appetizers, kids’ meals, and desserts. For their combos, you can choose from seasoned fries, onion rings, tater tots, curly fries, or sweet potatoes to go with your burger.
One and Only Burgers and Fries
One and Only Burgers and Fries is one burger place you won’t want to miss since it is a frequent winner of the Best Burger in McKinney award. Ironically, given their name, they have two locations: One is just over a mile north of downtown McKinney, and their second is in Sherman, Texas. Both restaurants are open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and closed on Sunday. Their menu isn’t huge, but besides burgers, they offer a reasonably priced food selection, including hot dogs, sandwiches, fries, shakes, beers, wine, and cold drinks.
One and Only’s burgers consist of a hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon burger, and bacon cheeseburger. You can add what you want from their list of twenty free toppings to any of these. Choose classic toppings like lettuce, tomato, and pickles, or spice it up with roasted green chili or jalapeños. Add grilled pineapple for a tropical spin or avocado for a modern flavor. Several condiments include hot sauce, BBQ sauce, and signature sauce. They also have some meatless cheese and vegetable sandwiches for vegetarian diners.
Grind Burger Bar
Part of the Grind Restaurant Group (which has three locations, two of which are in McKinney), Grind Burger Bar is just under 20 minutes from downtown. They offer a variety of delicious food that is always made from scratch with local and seasonal ingredients when available. Before you get to the burgers, start with a cup or bowl of soup with artisan sourdough bread. Other starters include battered and fried jalapeños stuffed with queso and pulled pork, loaded thick-cut cheese fries with bacon bits, and soft pretzels with beer cheese and mustard sauce. They also offer paninis and salads.

Shroom and Swiss is a classy burger with baby spinach, sauteed mushrooms and onion, Swiss cheese, and horseradish aioli. Pair any of these with a side of shoestring, sweet potato, or thick-cut fries.
