2023 Hyundai EV Lineup

It’s no longer a secret that the automotive industry is shifting toward electrification. In an effort to remain at the forefront of innovation, Hyundai has added several all-electric models to its stable in recent years and plans to introduce many more in the near future. These electric vehicles (EVs) stand out from their competitors with their incredible blend of performance, technology, aesthetic appeal, and value. Let’s take a closer look at Hyundai’s EV lineup for the 2023 model year.

Hyundai Kona EV

If you’re looking for an EV that’s easy and fun to drive, the Hyundai Kona EV is a great choice. The subcompact SUV is a cinch to maneuver and park in confined situations, thanks to its small dimensions and sharp steering. Furthermore, it’s also capable of providing an exciting driving experience when the situation calls for it. As an EV, this Hyundai model delivers maximum torque instantly, which helps it get off the line quickly. It also has athletic handling that enables it to negotiate sharp turns and winding roads with aplomb.

The Kona EV is equipped with an electric motor and a 64 kWh battery pack that combine for 201 horsepower. Paired with front-wheel drive, this powertrain propels the small SUV from zero to 60 mph in a little more than 6 seconds. Additionally, the crossover is one of the most fuel-efficient subcompact SUVs, with its outstanding EPA-estimated rating of 134/106 mpg-equivalent (city/highway). On a full charge, it offers a maximum range of 258 miles.

On the inside, the Kona EV looks and feels premium with top-notch fit and finish, rich materials, and plenty of soft-touch materials. It also has supportive and well-padded seats that remain comfortable even after hours of driving. This Hyundai SUV also comes with a wide range of standard comfort and convenience features, including an eight-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, and proximity keyless entry.

Technology is another department where the Hyundai Kona EV stands out. Even the base model offers a generous list of infotainment features, including an 8-inch touch-screen display, a six-speaker sound system, three USB ports, HD radio, satellite radio, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. In addition, you’ll have a great selection of driver-assistance features to help you stay safe behind the wheel, such as forward automated emergency braking, forward collision detection, lane-keeping assistance, lane departure alert, pedestrian monitoring, blind-spot detection, and rear cross-traffic warning.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

If you prefer a more family-friendly EV, consider getting the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5. As a compact SUV, this model has more interior space than the Kona EV. Both its front and rear seats provide ample legroom for even tall adults to stretch out, which is quite uncommon among smaller SUVs. Also, with a maximum cargo capacity of 59.3 cubic feet, it can fit all the luggage and belongings of a small or medium-sized family. The cabin of this crossover is airy and quiet and features a minimalist design, resulting in a serene and relaxing environment.

Similar to the Kona EV, the Ioniq 5 also boasts an extensive roster of standard features. The SUV keeps you and your passengers connected and entertained with an exceptionally intuitive and responsive infotainment system. The system includes a 12.3-inch touch-screen display, five USB ports, a six-speaker audio system, smartphone connectivity, navigation, satellite radio, and HD radio. Moreover, the Ioniq 5 offers outstanding protection against collisions with one of the longest lists of standard active safety features among compact electric SUVs.

If you decide to purchase or lease a Hyundai Ioniq 5, you have two powertrains to choose from. A rear-wheel-drive Ioniq 5 gets its power from an electric motor that generates 168 horsepower in the Standard Range version and 225 horsepower in the Long Range configuration. For more power, go for an all-wheel-drive model, which is fitted with a pair of motors that puts out a total of 320 horsepower. With this powertrain, the crossover can rocket to 60 mph from a stop in 5 seconds or less. The maximum driving range stands at 303 miles.

Hyundai Ioniq 6

Debuting in the 2023 model year, the Ioniq 6 is the latest addition to Hyundai’s EV lineup. This midsize sedan makes a striking statement on the road with its distinctive and futuristic exterior styling. It appears sleek and dynamic with its single-curved profile, graceful proportions, and smooth curves. A low-slung stance gives it a sporty appeal.

The powertrain options of the Ioniq 6 are similar to those of the Ioniq 5. The standard single-motor, rear-wheel-drive setup is rated at 225 horsepower, while the dual-motor system serves up 320 horsepower. According to Hyundai, this sedan is capable of sprinting from zero to 60 mph in a mere 5.1 seconds.

Other than brisk acceleration, the Ioniq 6 also offers engaging handling. Due to its low center of gravity, it feels well planted and composed at high speeds and around corners, making it a pleasure to drive. It also has paddles on the steering wheel that allow you to easily choose different modes of regenerative braking. Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, this new Hyundai model is expected to deliver a maximum range of 340 miles.

The interior of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 shares many styling elements with that of the Ioniq 5, so you can expect it to be refined and uncluttered. Additionally, it comes with spacious seats and a wealth of infotainment and driver-assistance features to provide a comfortable, enjoyable, and safe ride. The cabin is also extremely quiet, thanks to the multiple layers of sound-deadening materials between the carpeting and the floor.
