Seafood Restaurants To Enjoy in McKinney, TX

The beautiful Dallas suburb of McKinney, Texas, offers its residents a lot of great options for dining out, especially if you’re looking for Seafood restaurants. However, if you’re considering a change of pace and want to try some dishes that may be less common in inland Texas, such as seafood, you may be surprised to know that McKinney has a lot of great seafood establishments within its city limits as well.

There’s no reason why you can’t enjoy the fruits of the sea in Texas, so head to one of the seafood restaurants below and prepare to be amazed at the freshness and taste of the fish, shrimp, and other sea critters these kitchens serve. Before you set out on your evening dining adventures around the area, why don’t you stop by our service center  at Huffines Hyundai McKinney for a check-up to make sure your car is always along for the ride.

Storming Crab

Possibly the top-rated seafood spot in all of McKinney, the Storming Crab has a great reputation for good reason: its Cajun-inspired cuisine offers some of the strongest and most mouthwatering flavors this side of New Orleans. Not only does the restaurant focus on a variety of seafood it cooks exceptionally well, including crawfish, crab legs, shrimp, and oysters, but it also creates a beach-like ambiance so customers can get the feeling of being right at the shore.

Come here with friends or family and prepare to get full and happy (and messy — bibs are strongly recommended). Large groups like ordering crawfish off the menu, either by the pound or half pound. The service, just like the environment, is casual, laid back, and very friendly. Expect some classic seafood sides, such as corn and potatoes, and if you come here at night, enjoy one of the hand-crafted cocktails off the menu as well.

The Storming Crab is definitely the kind of place you want to visit on an empty stomach, so leave room for all the delicious Cajun goodness.

Rockfish Seafood Grill

Another local favorite is the casual neighborhood eatery Rockfish Seafood Grill, which offers fresh seafood in a fun atmosphere at affordable prices. This makes it a favorite spot for families and younger people in the area. Best of all, as a true seafood restaurant, the Rockfish Seafood Grill changes its specials pretty regularly, depending on what the best catch on the market is at the moment.

However, there are classic staples that customers love, including the shrimp basket, fish tacos, and the classic Rockfish Rock-a-Rita Margarita.

Urban Grill and Wine Bar

Those looking to celebrate a special event or plan a nice date night out in the heart of downtown McKinney should check out the family-owned Urban Grill and Wine Bar. As the name suggests, you can pick from a carefully curated selection of boutique wines to accompany your meal at this upscale establishment. The restaurant’s menu isn’t only limited to seafood, as it also serves steaks and gourmet sandwiches, but the seafood section is definitely what you want to take a look at.

Customers love the Alaskan Red King Crab Legs, the Pan-Seared Seabass, and the Seared Dayboat Scallops. The cuisine served here takes inspiration from several parts of the globe to bring customers a truly unique seafood experience. If you want to try one of the freshest items available, ask about the Catch of the Day.

Super Shack McKinney

Taste seafood in true Texas style at Super Shack McKinney. The portions here are large, the prices are great, and the menu options are endless. In addition to seafood classics, such as snow crab legs and oysters on the grill, Super Shack McKinney offers locals all the flavors they love at once by combining seafood with traditional Tex-Mex flavors. If you come here with some who are picky about seafood, they can also order tacos, tostadas, and fajitas off the menu.

However, most customers love the Super Shack fish baskets. They’ll fill you up quickly but are so delicious that you’ll keep eating anyway. This casual eatery is also very welcoming to families and children, as it features a kids’ menu that offers burgers, chicken fingers, and catfish fingers, in keeping with the combination seafood and meat menu.

As for the adults who are here for the seafood, you can stick to classic options, including the red snapper or seafood pasta, or try one of the more New Orleans-inspired options on the menu, such as the Shrimp Po’ Boy Sandwich. If you arrive at the restaurant with a big group, maybe you should look into the Super Shack Platter, one of the best-selling items on the menu. This platter includes snow crab legs, shrimp, corn, sausage, and potatoes.

Rick’s Chophouse

Another elegant seafood dining option on our list, Rick’s Chophouse is located right in the Grand Hotel and Ballroom of downtown McKinney. The restaurant serves plenty of non-seafood options as well, such as its mouthwatering steak, but it also prides itself on sourcing some of the freshest, top-quality seafood on the market to deliver pure flavors from the sea to its customers.

Try the Alaskan King Crab, the Diver Scallops, or the Escargot for something a little different and fancy. The most popular options by far are the catfish basket and hot & spicy shrimp. Many customers like to start off their meal with the Chophouse salad to whet their appetite. While you’re waiting for your meal to be served, be sure to sample one of the delicious and flavorful specialty cocktails prepared by the skilled bartender.

We love all kinds of seafood, and we know that sometimes understanding the different types of seafood dining establishments in McKinney can be difficult, so we hope this list of our seafood favorites will help you out the next time you get a craving for some fish or shrimp.
